In support of the Capital Hospice mission to improve care for those facing life-limiting illness through direct support of patients and families, public education and public advocacy, Capital Hospice presents the 12th Annual Josefina Magno Conference: "Breathing In, Breathing Out: Inspiration for Holistic Care" which seeks to equip the audience for integrative practice in providing relief of pain and suffering in serious progressive illness especially as it relates to shortness of breath/Dyspnea.
Distinguished, multidisciplinary experts will offer a blended program of practical, holistic, empirically-supportable, and evidence-based topics regarding the importance of the human breath throughout life.
The Josefina Magno Award for Excellence in Education and Leadership will be given to Frank Ostaseski, founder of the Metta Institute (Sausalito, CA) which provides education on spirituality in dying. Mr. Ostaseski is also one of this year’s faculty.

This conference is intended for those who work with seriously ill patients and their families in hospitals, hospices, long-term or skilled nursing facilities, or home settings including: physicians, nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants and Home Health Aides, Social workers and bereavement counselors, chaplains, pastoral counselors and clergy, hospice and home care volunteers, and therapists (physical, occupational, art, music, alternative).

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of Washington Hospital Center and the Capital Hospice Washington Hospital Center is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Credit Designation
Washington Hospital Center designates this educational activity for a maximum of 14 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
