The Journal Club of the Institute for Education and Leadership provides an important educational forum for physicians, fellows and other healthcare providers interested in advances in palliative and hospice care. The goal of the Journal Club is continued learning, sharing of ideas about care-giving, and the evaluation of practices that lead to making better decisions for patient care.
Each month, the Journal Club selects, reviews, presents and comments on original research and review articles from current biomedical literature that discuss the cause, course, diagnosis, clinical prediction, prevention, treatment or economics of medical disorders managed by palliative and hospice physicians and related sub-specialists.
Articles to be discussed at the next Journal Club Meeting:

The Club meets on the third Thursday of each month, at which time a Capital Hospice Fellow provides a structured presentation of the selected literature, which is then commented on by clinicians with a high degree of expertise in the topic of the article and who have declared no conflict of interest.
Discussions are moderated by Hunter Groninger, MD, Fellow, Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Capital Hospice, and Jean-Paul Pinzon, MD, Fellow, Hospice and Palliative Medicine, George Washington University. Meetings typically take place at the Halquist Memorial Inpatient Center, 4715 North 15th Street, Arlington, VA 22205.
