About the Institute

Welcome to the Institute for Education and Leadership (“the Institute”) section of the Capital Hospice website.
Formally established in 2003, the Institute’s mission is to advance expertise in hospice and palliative care by educating diverse constituencies via continuing education programs for professional caregivers, research and community outreach; evaluating practices in hospice and palliative care to promote best practices among all hospice and palliative caregivers; providing guidance on ethical and spiritual questions arising in the care of a dying person and providing public policy guidance for regulators and legislators whose decisions impact health care delivery and end-of-life care.
In its efforts to achieve the goals set by the mission, the Institute has developed this portion of the Capital Hospice website for the dissemination of program information, articles, reports, and other information. Some of the content within the website has been developed by the Institute; other information has been developed by other sources believed by the Institute to be creditable.
