While the hallmark of hospice care is that it is delivered to you at home, sometimes a person’s symptoms may require more intensive monitoring than can be accomplished at home. For such cases, Capital Hospice operates the Halquist Memorial Inpatient Center in Arlington, Virginia. The Inpatient Center is a well-equipped, 15-bed facility in which patients are monitored 24-hours daily. Care is provided by nurses, certified nursing assistants, chaplains, social workers and specially-trained volunteers. Additional resources, such as a dietician, physical therapist or occupational therapist for example, are available as needed.
A physician is available at all times.
In many cases, pain and symptoms are controlled in just a few days, allowing the patient to return home.
We also provide inpatient hospice care in select nusing homes and for patients in many local hospitals prior to discharge.
