Adler Center for Caring

on the Van Metre Campus

Capital Campaign

The Adler Center for Caring on the Van Metre Hospice Campus in Loudoun County will be a new, 48,000 square foot, 21-bed, inpatient hospice care facility with meeting space and clinical offices for Capital Hospice home care teams.

It will be located in Loudoun County at Route 50 and Gum Springs Road within the Van Metre Companies’ Stone Ridge Community, conveniently accessed by much of Loudoun, Fauquier, Western Fairfax, and Prince William counties.

It will be built in an area previously identified by Capital Hospice as the fastest growing portion of our service area.  The generous land gift from the Van Metre Companies made it an obvious choice.

Current construction estimates place the total cost at approximately $15,000,000, including contingencies.

Hospice Annual Fund Campaign

Capital Hospice's Annual Fund Campaign provides critical operational support for programs and services that meet our community's need for the highest quality end of life care.  Annual contributions from the community make possible all that we do for patients and families in our care.

Capital Hospice is one of the first and largest hospice and palliative care programs in the country.  We began in a church basement in 1977 when a handful of caring and committed people from the community said, "There has to be a better way to care for patients at the end of their lives."

Today, Capital Hospice's care teams of nurses, home health aides, social workers, chaplains, volunteers, and physicians (yes, our doctors still make house calls!) travel more than 1 million miles a year to deliver care to patients and their families in their homes, in assisted living centers, hospitals, and in nursing homes.

Yet, we are constantly stretched to reach the patients and familes who come to us in need of our services.  That is why Capital Hospice runs its Hospice Annual Fund Campaign -- to secure core support for the programs and services that we provide to an average of nearly 900 patients and families every day.

In addition to quality hospice and palliative care, the programs and services that are supported through the Hospice Annual Fund Campaign include:

After Hours Care, where our hospice nurses respond to urgent "after hours" calls from caregivers and families in need of assistance,

Extensive bereavement support, including individual and family counseling, drop-in groups, and community grief and loss programs, such as the Point of Hope camp for children, teens and adults,

Outreach and education on end-of-life issues through Speakers Bureau and staff workshops and training,

Professional education and research through our Center for Outcomes, Research and Education to improve care, including an accredited physician fellowship program in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and

Charity care, which provides $1 million annually in services to uninsured patients and families through the Patient Care Fund.

These programs are essential to our mission to improve care through direct support of patients and families, public education, and public advocacy.   We simply couldn’t fulfill the scope of our mission without annual community support, like yours.

Whether you can contribute $25, $50, $100 or more -- whether the gift remembers a loved one or pays tribute to a special person, your Hospice Annual Fund Campaign gift will touch the lives of patients and families in our community.

Thank you for your ongoing generous support of Capital Hospice and for all you do to help your friends and neighbors.
